Ford Explorer Ford Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.

Default Whats that noise?

So a new noise there is a creaking weird sound which sounds like it coming from the dash It happens only when i hit the brakes or hit bumps. But everytime i apply the brakes it is heard its not the ABS but you can feel it it feels like a popping and i have no idea where it comes from. But you can hear it either in the floor or the dash.

Question to tonight to show off i unplugged fuse #25 to do a burnout now the transfer case wanted to engage in auto mode i could feel and hear it by the series of jerking but when i finally got them spinning i spun em for a bit now i put the fuse back in and the control-trac seems to work fine but At a red light if i floor it the tires will squeel a bit could control-trac be bad or are my treads on my tires crap for spinning them???

I disables the locking portion of the 4wd system. But i think i melted my tires down to much since they squeel briefly on straight aways and around corners now.

It is pretty sensitive to tire size,I had one where they only replaced 2 tires and it caused all sorts of problems

The creaking might be your ball joints. go out to each fender and push down on the car and let the car bounce. If it creeks its your joint.
