Ford Explorer Ford Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.

Default I cant 4x4 please help

I have a 96 explorer auto v6 drives fine in 2WD no noise or problem what so ever, when i activate the 4x4 it drives straight no problem but when i turn or start to turn left or right it sounds like the front left wheel is banging and going to explode , if i do a full lock either left or right in 4x4 it will start to move slightly then jam up like its going to snap ( left wheel) im assuming it sounds and feels like its the left wheel but it only does it in 4x4 not 2x4 please help??

Thats normal for it to make lots of sounds in 4 wheel drive. I would check your hubs just be on the safe side, BUT it is normal. The wheels are locked together in 4wd right?, so it makes sense when your turn that one wheel trying to spin faster than the other is going to agitate the other, thus the groaning and the occasional abs type feel on the inside tire.
