Weird "thunk" in '02 V8 Explorer A weird 'thunk' noise occurs when driving. It usually happens after I hit 40-45mph or more, then start to decelerate. It's intermittent-- it sounds like it can be in the wheels, driveshaft or maybe m differential. I'm not sure if the sound is coming from the front or the rear, but I can feel it in my steering wheel and sometimes in my brake pedal (although, It does thunk when I'm not braking). The thunk occurs at a pace of every 3 seconds until I accelerate.
It's also accompanied by a noise that could only be described like a waning noise or similar to a plane taking off in the distance. I can obviously hear it better with my windows open. The noise is amplified when I switch to 4 wheel drive.
Has anyone every came across a problem like this? If you have, what was the problem/ remedy? |
