| Help With Wipers 1999 Explorer Sport The front wipers on my Explorer will randomly go on and off. They usually will only make one pass and stay off. Sometimes they will start to go, hesitate and then make one pass. Does anyone have an idea to fix this problem? Thanks |

| I have been searching about this forever but, no one seems to have an answer. I own a 1999 Ford Explorer LTD. and a buddy of mine owns a 1994 Ford Probe and the same thing happens to both of us. It only happens when I activate my turn signal so I think its an electrical connection in the signal/wiper switch bar that seems to happen after about 6-7 years of use. |

| Wipers are electrical... Years ago when I first got my Sport and was dealing with all 5 recalls, I had the same problem. The fuse pattern diagram in the manual is not correct for our truck...apparently only the certified techs/ dealership have the correct version. Don't ask me why. Anyway, after replacing ALL the fuses I insisted that they check for an electrical short. They did, just to humor me, but found one. Further, they discovered that there was a "problem" with the electrical system, but it didn't warrant a recall. As a result they did the work at no cost. That was back in 1999 or early 2000. Take it in and tell them you were having the same problems that MANY owners have had and that it was determined by Don Chalmer's Ford Dealership in Albuquerque to be a manufacture problem.
Hopefully they'll fix it free of cost for you. |

| Dealer Take your truck to the dealership and do as the above guy said. I have a 99 and in 2000 i had the same problem. I also had a problem with the turn signal getting stuck and over heating which is interesting when you smell burning plastic. Definately have them check it out. |

| Had a very similar problem with our 98 Explorer. Another symptom was the windshield washer would be intermittent along with the turn signal. The problem was the turn signal module. Surprisingly it's an easy swap and the part was about $50. Took 15 minutes to replace. |
