Where to start on rough idle?

Just got this explorer...having some issues

Rough idle, you can feel the shaking in the steering wheel. Where do I start? Doesn;t matter if it is hot or cold, there is this rough idle. I was thinking IAC first. Others may have a better opinion on this. I hate to just toss money at it. There isn;t a check engine light. Would a diagnostic reader show anything useful?

It might, even if the light is off.

Start with the obvious. Air filter, fuel filter, PCV valve hose and grommet. You probably have not replaced those in awhile anyway.

Next, replace the spark plugs.
