Hello, and I have a question I could really use a quick answer on...
Ford ExplorerFord Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.

Hello all. I hope you are all well.
I imagine the info I need is probably on the forum already somewhere, but I am in a little bit of a time crunch and can't do a proper search for the time being.
I have a '99 Explorer Sport 4x4 with 111,000 plus miles and am in the bad situation of needing to replace the differential and the transmission.....I have the 8.8 inch 4.10 differential and the 5R55E tranny. What other years of Explorer variants and or other Ford vehicles might have had the same combination? I am looking to buy a used vehicle for parts so I can just swap out the whole shootin' match myself, but don't really know what years other than '99 I could be looking at and whether any of the 4 door and/or 4x2 Explorers would have the same equipment. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Now for a little background......I live in the Oklahoma City area and work as a jet engine mechanic/inspector for the USAF.
