Ford ExplorerFord Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.
I have a 2002 Explorer approx 130,000 on it. Just performed a tune up consisting of new plugs, wires, pcv valve, air filter, fuel filter. Now I am noticing a hissing noise when i accelerate, it only is at low rpms' (begins in second gear) and only lasts about 1 or 2 seconds. Sounds like it's coming from the passenger side compartment somewhere. noise does not happen when just in park-only while driving. Performance does not seem to be affected. Any ideas what this could be? loose spark plug..?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
