Need some guidance with aftermarket parts

Whats up, I'm a first time poster and have some interest in modding my truck. I have some ideas on what I want I just don't know what brands and websites to use. Here is a list in priority of what I want/need:

1.) Transmission - I'm feeling like my transmission is on it's way out, it has trouble getting into 3rd gear, it seems to be "slipping". What's a good reliable aftermarket trans that may increase performance over a stock trans for a moderate amount of money in comparison?

2.) Suspension - I don't want to raise/lower the truck I just want a smoother ride. I would logically think that new shocks would improve this but what other things can I look toward that may improve ride quality? Also like I said, what brands can I be confident in?

3.) Roof rack - I've seen the one I like, it's a Yakima that has a ferring and light mounts. My main goal is to haul my kayaks, I just don't know a reputable website to buy it from.

4.) Exhaust/Headers - I'm kind of in the dark here, all I know is I want a mean sounding exhaust. Do I need a full exhaust system or can I just get slip ons? Also, are new headers manditory? Which brands? Which store?


My dad's buddy has a small garage and he knows what he is doing, I plan on taking it there for the work. I don't plan on doing them all at once, just thought I'd ask all in one post. Thanks for any and all responses!
