Ford ExplorerFord Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.
I recently bought this vehicle and was not supplied with key fobs. My question is if this explorer has Power Locks, will a key fob work with them, or were some Explorers sold with Power Door locks that only work in the vehicle?
I read in the Owners Manual that to program a key fob you turn the ignition on and of 5 times or until the doors lock and unlock, I tried this and they never locked, thus the above question.
I too bought a 98 Explorer XLT and it does not have remote entry. I tried the key turning proceedure and the door locks did not respond also, The dealer told me to try the key turning proceedure amd if it didn't work it did not come wwithj the keyless remotes.

Thanks, the dealer told me the same. Mine is an XL model. I did solve the problem though, I bought a $40.00 add-on kit from Autozone and installed it last weekend, not to difficult and I now have working remotes!
