Ford ExplorerFord Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.
Hey all! I am new here and have question about plugs and wires for my 98 Ford Explorer, which has the 5 liter V8. I heard that I should buy the plugs and wires from Ford but the dealership wants $287 for the wires...no joke! I see that OEM replacements online are less than $100. Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated. And thanks you in advance. James
IMO, it's always best to stick with OEM replacement parts but Motorcraft from any auto part store will be the same as dealer stuff...and a ton cheaper.
I did this a few years back on my 1998. I bought Motorcraft plugs from the local parts store and a good set of Aftermarket Lifetime Warranty wires, no issues in over 2 years.
