tach drops to zero engine still running, won't rev up
Ford ExplorerFord Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.
tach drops to zero engine still running, won't rev up
I have a 2001 Explorer sport. I have had battery problems in the past but this is the first time that this has happened to me.
A few days ago I had to borrow my dads truck boost the explorer to get it started. After putting the truck back and getting behind the wheel I noticed the tach was sitting at zero but the engine was still running.
I tried hitting the gas to see if it would rev up but the engine just bogged down and returned to normal when I released the gas pedal.
Anybody have any ideas what is going on and what I can do? If I could get it running so I could drive it to the city that would be great. I am a good hour from the city so I really don't want to tow it there to get fixed.
