Ford ExplorerFord Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.
I have a 2001 Ford explorer xlt 4 door. When I bought the car the dealer gave me 2 chip keys to start the car. I always used the remote or the doorpad to enter the car. I realized that if my battery should go dead for one reason or another that the chip keys wont open the doors.
My question is if I go to a dealership with my registration and vin number will they be able to cut me an entry key with that information? Or will I have to take out one of the locks and bring it to a locksmith to have a key made so I can get in? Thanks for any info.
