Ford Explorer Ford Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.

Default 2000 Explorer Blinking O/D off light

As you can see from the title I'm writting about my blinking O/D off light. The light has started blinking lately whenever I drive on the highway above 70 mph. Is there a sensor that would be malfunctioning, trans oil to low, trany to hot? Has anyone else had this problem and is it something that I should be concerned about?

Thanks for any information,

B rad

The trans is telling you there is a problem with your transmission. You need to have it checked out by a shop that can read the codes. Ford dealership or full fledge transmission shop.

If you don't have checked out right away. You might have to rebuild the entire transmission in a worst case scenario. Around $3-4,000.
