Ford Explorer Ford Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.

txtocal Guest Posts: n/a	Possible trans. prob. - 97 2-DR Only one occurrence of this problem so far, a week ago. Stopped at traffic light, started to go, but car seemed to have slipped out of gear. Was running, but wouldn't drive. Went into reverse, then was able to go into drive again. Transmission repair place said there was no diag. code registered for this occurence, so couldn't repair anything. Thinks it's the beginning of a trans. problem. (Said this car is nicknamed the "Exploder" because. trans. have been known to blow up after about 110k miles (I'm at 120k). Do I just wait until it goes out, comes apart, whatever? Any other ideas re: possible problem?
