Ford Explorer Ford Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. Explorer was completely redesigned in 2006 and we were pleased with the new steering, new suspension, and new brakes, all of which were vastly improved over the previous-generation.

Default Boycot UHaul

UHaul will not rent a trailer if you are going to use a Ford Explorer to tow it. I suggest that if you own an Explorer that you not rent anything from UHaul. The following is what they told me:

Thank you for your request for information on our policy regarding Ford Explorers.

U-Haul has chosen not to rent behind this tow vehicle based on our history of excessive costs in defending lawsuits involving Ford Explorer towing combinations. This is an unusual circumstance and we do not like having to make this decision. We do not like saying “no” to our customers and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. This policy is not related to safety issues.

U-Haul can offer several ways to move. We suggest using a different tow vehicle or renting a truck and/or an alternate towing combination to facilitate your move. For rates or more information, please visit us on line at U-Haul: Your moving and self storage resource for truck rentals, trailers, self storage facilities, and moving supplies, click on truck & trailer or contact our National Sales and Reservations Team at 1-800-468-4285.

We appreciate your time and understanding of our policies.

Sincerely,
Jackie Wengerd

Funny thing is, they'll rent to a Mountaineer. Go on their website and try to rent using an Explorer, then change to the same year Mountaineer. Go figure!

That's dumb of both Uhaul and the people who sued them. Mainly the people, too greedy.

Yea.. i see why uhaul did it. While its retarded to us explorer owners with NEW tires, its not to them.. its a safety thing. the people.. very stupid.. they probably joined in on the class action suit against firestone....

I'm glad class action lawsuits have been outlawed.

You gotta be kidding me? So, pick up the trailer with a friends car, then pull over in the street in front of them and change (call them on the phone and tell them to look out the window), or return the trailer with your Explorer.
