rough idle and surging while accelerating (1995)

Ford Explorer Ford Explorer is a midsize SUV with body-on-frame construction. Available with V6 or V8 power, the Explorer competes against the TrailBlazer, Grand Cherokee, 4Runner, and Pathfinder. coloradooly Guest Posts: n/a	rough idle and surging while accelerating (1995) My explorer has been having some issues with a rough idle. When the engine is somewhat warm, it occasionally will idle rough when it is started. If you bring the rpm's up for a few seconds and then go back to idle, the engine will level off. My suspicion is an EGR valve. Does anyone have any ideas? My other issue is a slight surging during moderate acceleration. I have over 200,000 miles on this vehicle, but I need it for a few more. Does anyone have suggestions?
