Ford F - Series The Ford F-Series lineup offers a plethora of models for every occasion or occupation, starting below $20,000 and climbing beyond double that. The F-Series line offers something on the order of 75 permutations, more than some car companies' entire lineups. All are capable of work or play, even those models with luxurious interiors, and all have four doors.

If I was going to do a swap, I'd put a 351W in it. I'm in the process of building up a 399 stroker for my '80 to replace the 302 in it now.

A 460 is so much bigger and heavier that the swap is not worth it IMO. Headers may be hard to find, and the fact the trans will have to be different is already been covered.

The 351W and 302 are so close to each other dimensionally and share so many parts that the swap should be fairly easy. Cheap performance parts are readily available and so are long tube headers.

Personally, if I had a 300 six, I would build it up. Even in stock form, they are torque monsters, and gas isn't going to stay under $2.00 a gallon forever.

You haven't really stated any plans for as to how you are going to use the truck. For a daily driver it's hard to beat the combination of gas economy and pulling power that the six offers.

If you want to burn the tread off those new Mickey Thompsons a stroked 351W should fit the bill nicely and could probably be done for about 3K.

Problem solved. I'm sticking with the 300. I'll be starting within the next two to three weeks. The motor isn't running right now, so I have to tow it to the shop where I'm going to be working with it. I found a lot of stuff at Clifford Performance :: Make 6 = 8 ... they are kind of expensive, so I'm going to shop around but still use their ideas. Now I just have to find a machine shop.

I can't wait to post some pictures, but I'll start a new thread with those.

Yeah -That's all good. You might not want to compare wages though. Everything comes with a price -pine needles included.

WTF? Are you from NY and posing as a guy from MO? YOUSE?

Mewhoiam stated in his post that he was in east Texas. Been there a few times- hence the pine-tree and wage references. I live in North Central Texas.
I try and keep geographical differences out of things and I'm naturally such a prick I don't want people to be able to track me down.
