| workin on it as we speak, gettin all the extremities off . got a lot done yesterday should be in a position to hoist er out today.
Gotta go find a belt for my furnace before I start, it broke last night.
did compression tests yesterday before we started, drove around town for a bit to get the engine up to normal operating temp first.
:each cylinder was not far off from each other.
here's what we got
#1)127.5 psi
#2) 132 psi
#3) 128 psi
#4) 130psi
#5) was a bit low 122psi (double checked it twice, same each time)
#6) 128psi
Not sure what to make of this but I feel good about the fact that they are fairly close to each other , but don't know if this is low or normal?
I have some pics but I'll post em later along with an update. I promise.
Gotta go get that belt , only one place open within an hour of here...
Later and have a good day,

| OK these pics are from yesterday ,
I'll take pics tomorrow before we start any more work.
She's not comin apart easy, everything is siezed tight, made a couple of tool runs, and took a beer break.
we have only to unbolt the engine from the tranny and from the engine mounts, and I can hoist er out .
I really want to get the fan off though it's the kind with a big nut in the center of the shaft rather than the one with 4bolts that go into the water pump. I can't get the nut loose and I'm not sure if it's a left hand thread or right. all the book says is that it coulb be either one.
thats a lot of help eh?
Back to work tomorrow so I won't get back to her till after supper.
damn job interferes with my time.
peace and out

| I would have left the carb, and all the accesories on the truck. My brother and I pulled the motor from his old 83 in a matter of hours in that method, and that was along time ago when we were younger.

| Hi jonmark1985
I could have I guess.
I'm worried about damaging stuff and also I'd like to get as much off as I can in case there is a wieght issue , I'm relying on my garage rafters an a 3x6.
But either way we got stalled out waiting for a tool, which I got yesterday, for holding the pully still while I turn the the fan shaft.
Too tired to go out there tonight but I'll get back at er on the weekend for sure.
Later

| Sometimes you can hold the water pump pulley with the belts.
You should consider investing in either renting, borrowing or buying a cherry picker. There is merit in pulling the accesorrys though, just be careful you don't lose little parts.

| Overall average values can vary due to the static compression ratio, battery charge, and starter condition. I thought the values were a little low, but if you have a weak battery or a questionable starter then the values you have are acceptable.
You plan on having the motor bored don't you?

We suddenly got 'busy ' at work but I should get back at er on the weekend.
Will continue to give progress updates as I go.
