Shouldn't be too bad,, pull the crank, cam pistons and rods. Then throw the block, old piston/rods, and new pistons in the trunk of your car and head to the shop. I haul heads and blocks in the trunk of my car all the time!

Got everything off the motor , now I'm trying to get the vibration damper off.

Can anyone tell me which way I am supposed to turn the bolt to loosen it?
Please.
It's tight and I don't want to wreck it turning it the wrong way.

Thank you
Dave

An impact wrench is handy.

Thank you,

just wondering about the tappets too, got them all out but some were rather tight, will the machine shop hone the holes a bit or will new tappets fix that problem ?

just wondering what I should do about that..

Still need to talk to a couple machine shops I have 2 choices of shops, one is one hour away the other is 2 1/2 , I'll get them to install my pistons too, cast flat top with moly rings , still not sure about the cam, I'm thinkin mid range is good....

I'll get more pics later.....

temp is dropping again...... I can't stand it much longer.....

Lifters usually get sludge around them and it can be a pain to pull em out. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Having the block cleaned and new lifters will help alot.

Thats a clean engine.

I've been busy with school, so no new news from me! Well I've been tinkering with my firebird sometimes.

Default Good news

I talked to the machine shop today , got everything arranged .
They are going to measure everything properly, and get me the right pistons, bearings etc...
To bore the cylinders will cost $14.00/hole
and around $100.00 for milling the head, deck and exhaust flange.
They can source out the parts too.

Now just have to buy a valve spring compressor and get that bad boy down to the city...

Today is an historic day in the life of my truck......

The block, crank, cam and head are now at the machine shop in the city.

The guy said he'll measure everything up and order an engine kit.

He said he'll get some compression in that lower end.

Should hear from him next week or the week after at the latest.
