My "custom" 1986 F150 The Ford I own is a 1986 F150 with a 1975 302 cid (with points and condenser) and a E40D non electronic transmission. Currently trying to get the truck back up and running. It was parked because of the Over Drive had gone out. It has sat for about 5.5 years with very little done to it. I acquired the truck about a year ago. And of course no else has done this type of engine & tranny configuration to these trucks that I am aware of. I have had the engine running but did not run very well. Need to replace the spark plugs and carburetor gaskets, plus several vacuum lines. Hope to get this truck up and going in the next 2 or 3 months. The transmission Over Drive is out but it still works in Drive. When it is put in OD it will get up to 4th and then will not down shift. You have to put the thing into regular Drive and it will shift in all three gears all day long. Something in OD is messed up. Not sure if it is an easy fix or not. It has been and will continue to be a work truck. Thinking of building my own type of "camper shell", one that is designed for the type of work I do.
Also I own a 77 Chevy Impala. Yes I know many die-hard Ford and Chevy fans hate any one having 'both' types in one driveway. But both are good vehicles and have their best attributes. I don't prefer to part with either one, so as far as I am concerned I have the best of both worlds. Thanks for "listening".
