Default trouble w/starting at times

I have had trouble with my 2005 f250 diesel (35,500 miles) starting at times. All started nine months ago. I can go to start it and it acts like it is going to start, but just sits there and cranks. I can turn it off for 15 seconds or so and try it again and it will start. First time it happened it would not start at all, but would just crank. But of course when I had it towed to dealer it started right up for them. That time they changed the fuel filters. Seemed like that took care of it until now (3-10-08). I took it Monday and was told they put a new alternator on it and it was fixed. Picked it up Wednesday. Was gone from dealership 40 minutes and it did it again. Needless to say it is back at the dealership. They have no clue i guess what it is?? Has anyone had a problem like this??? Thank u for any help u could give me!!!

Mine is doing the same thing and I got the same story, same results! And like you, I'll wait for an answer!

Update on 4/12/08: After a few return trips to the shop they replaced the batteries and alternator. It seems to be working for now! sometimes I kind of wonder if the battery posts could have been cleaned if that would have fixed it! A lot of time in the shop and head scratching and non-answers for something that still might be wrong but the new batteries and alternator overcome for now because they are new. So why have chips and problem codes if they are not sophisticated enough to at least give a clue where to start looking. Not enough details!
