Default Why No Fuel? - '91 F-150

I just bought a '91 F-150 with a 302 automatic. It apparently has a bad frost plug - I have not gotten under it yet though. The truck belonged to a local trucking company and was their mechanic's parts chaser and it was looked after fairly well. It has a dent in the side of the box and being as appearance is important to this outfit, they parked the truck when the frost plug let go and bought a newer truck that looked better. It has sat for a year and a half and the mechanic said that they had replaced both fuell pumps in the tanks just before parking it. I tried to fire it up yesterday and neither pump seems to want to work. The tanks have been pretty much siphoned dry ( kids... ) and I am wondering if there is a limit switch on these pumps so that they will not work once the fuel level drops below a certain point or can the seize up from sitting with hardly any fuel in the tanks? I checked the fuse and everything should work but the pumps seem dead. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Default Should be some noise

There is a limit to the fuel, there is a pickup, and it dosent go all the way to the bottom, so it could be bone dry. Just for S***s and giggles I would trow a couple of gallons in a tank and see if that helps.

Second You should here the pump for about a second if no noise at all the pumps might not be getting any power

But i would start off with the gas first. Making sure there is gas in the tank, if you put gas in and it runs ... problem solved, if not we can help with some trouble shooting

There is NO sound at all coming from the tanks indicating that either pump is even attemting to work. I'll dump some fuel in tomorrow and see if anything happens and post the results. Thank you for your response. I appreciate it.

Before you swap the pump change out the relay if equipped. my dad had a similar problem and it turned out it was just the relay

make sure you try the fuel pump relay and the power relay, they are located on the driver's side right next to the air cleaner. Also make sure the enertia switch is not poped, i think on the 91 it is inside the cab. on the passenger side in the kick panel or under the glove box.
