Default fuel tank switch not working

hey everyone, i'm driving a 93 F250 7.3 Diesel Int/Navstr. when i switch from rear to front tank the dash gauge registers the switchm but fuel continues to draw from the rear tank. i cant get the front tank working. any ideas on how to test and what to test. i'm trying to get out of having to drop the front fuel tank as it is full up.

can you swap the lines at the switching valve to at least run the fuel out? That is assuming its a switching valve problem. The front tank is not so bad to drop full on a lift if you get the drive shaft out of you way. Also i had to change a switching valve once and couldnt stop the flow from the tank but back then I was pretty new and dont remember the exact circumstances.Good luck.

i can hear the switch working. so could it be that the in tank filter is clogged, but why does it continue to draw from the rear after switching
