I find Haynes manuals very informative. They should be available at any major auto part stores. Chilton manuals are good also. I imagine your T-stat is stock as you have such low mileage. T stats generally last no more then 10 years with regular driving. Best thing anyone can do, regardless of mileage is replace the T stat every 5 years. As you have to take the hose off and possibly get a new clamp anyway, it'd be good to replace the T-stat. Leaking coolant on any vehicle isn't common, no matter who says what. If the EPA found out that it was common, there would be a recall issued for that particular vehicle as coolant is toxic.
