Possessed !993 XLT Crewcab !!
I got an electrical issue that's got me to pulling my hair out and low in the wallet, So really could use some ideas.
Here's the deal: Few years ago bought an this truck, a 1993 F-150 XLT Crewcab with the full box. Big Truck, lol
Working fine till last fall. The n one day i'm driving down the road, and see the charging needle drop from full tilt, which it always had read, down to just above the "A" in Normal. I figured that maybe the old feller had cured itself cause that was about whre the pointer should have been. Just figured the gauge was broke.
But about 10 days later i woke up to a dead battery. Hoping it would be the cheap way out, i replaced the battery. No luck. About a week later it was dead. Took it to Canadian Tire, they ran some tests, said it wasn't the alternator, and was only drawaing about 2 amps. Had no clue what was going on. Figuring it had to be the alternator, I had em put a new one in and a new battery.
About 10 days later, battery was dead. Charged it up, but starter wouldn't turn. Took it to another garage, and was told starter was bad, and replacing should also fix my battery going dead problem. Was also told my new battery had a bad cell and wouldn't charge.....hmmmm. Replaced starter and put in new battery.
Now 10 days later, battery dead, but will take a charge. Can anyone think of reason the batteries are either being drained, or what i'm thinking now, some reason they are being killed ? Gonna rule out the alternator, cause this was going on with my old one before i replaced it. I am completely lost on this !! HELP !! |
