hello, i got '97 f-150 4.2L. that has to go, have read different posts but haven't really got a clear answer. would like to put a v-8 in, will any v-8's bolt up to my tranny or will i have to change tranny to? also what electrial componets will i have to chage? would like to stay with the fuel injection motor but not offended to put an older 302 or 351 in either. any an all advice would be greatly apprieched.
Facing the same problem. My 4.2 is still chugging along but souds pretty bad some days. From what I have found you can change to a 302 or 351 with the same trans but you will need a trans controller. These trans have a different pattern from the v6 to the modular and you will have to swap both motor and tranny to get a 4.6 or a 5.4 along with their computers and wiring.
