Ford F - Series The Ford F-Series lineup offers a plethora of models for every occasion or occupation, starting below $20,000 and climbing beyond double that. The F-Series line offers something on the order of 75 permutations, more than some car companies' entire lineups. All are capable of work or play, even those models with luxurious interiors, and all have four doors.

Default 1979 f250

i have a 1979 f250 ranger xlt that i just got and was wondering if anyone else has this truck or one similar that could help me with info on repairs and or aftermarket parts. i heard that any f series from 76-79 can use the same parts. is that true?

its in decent shape except for the interior.
ill probably pull the old carpet out and just have the metal floor exposed.
but there are other issues that need help and i thought i would look here for any tips before i go pulling parts from junkyards.

anyone know any info on aftermarket parts?

Default a pic of the beast

heres what the exterior looks like... not bad.
i want to take all the decals and stickers off of it.

the driver side door wont open from the outside - a friend at work said i could go to autozone and get a small plastic clip that hooks onto the rods inside the door frame to fix that.

anyone know anything about that?

Nice looking truck
A friend of mine, has a similar era Bronco and he really enjoys mudding with it.

I don't know about the specific years, but there will certainly be a group of them that will interchange exterior parts, and most likely a larger group of years that will exchange engine components, door locks etc.

Good luck with her.

I have a 77 pretty close to yours, I have found lots of Aftermarket parts.

The usual Catalog sales places have engine parts, transmission parts. LMC trucks has all body, interior etc parts, and wheels are available, just remember 1998 and below for proper fit.

I am still looking for good headers myself, I just installed a single custom exhaust, but just doesn't have THAT SOUND I like.

For the most part, the exterior body parts fron 73-79 are the same. the grills, trim and other little details can vary. I replaced the front end of a 76 with a 79 and everything fit perfect. It went from round headlights to rectangular, but everything mounted the same.

This months issue of J.C. Whitny has interior parts for "sale." They want 220-440.00 for the door panels. Yikes! When I did mine several years ago they were 99.00.

I have a 79 F250 4X4 and have found the best deals on rebuild parts at partstrain.com. Their prices are by far the cheapest I have found.
