Ford F - Series The Ford F-Series lineup offers a plethora of models for every occasion or occupation, starting below $20,000 and climbing beyond double that. The F-Series line offers something on the order of 75 permutations, more than some car companies' entire lineups. All are capable of work or play, even those models with luxurious interiors, and all have four doors.

Default Cracked Dash

The OEM dash on my '81 F100 is cracked pretty badly and I've been trying to find a replacement for years....nada. I don't want one of those plastic over-dash covers. I see RA carries a fabric cover by Dash Designs and I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on those covers? No photos are posted, so I can't see exactly what I'd be buying. OEM color is Wedgewood Blue....thanks.

Thanks for the reply. That plastic over-cover is $175. I'd have to see one installed before spending that much SS money. I appreciate your response, thks

I see you've not received much feedback yet, so here's another to go with 'parr4' comment.

I had a similar issue on a Ford dash and I found a place to fix it for a very reasonable price (less than $60) to make the dash look like new. Where you are in Texas, inquire at the places that do auto upholstery, seat repairs, possibly auto/truck "detailing" and such. If the first one you check doesn't do the dash repairs, chances are THEY will know who in the area might.

When mine was complete, I couldn't tell the cracks at all--even the vinyl pattern was perfectly blended. I'd imagine there in Texas you have a WHOLE BUNCH of experts that do just this type of thing. Depending how close to the border you are, you MIGHT be able to take it and have them do the whole thing in leather for not too bad of a price.

While you're down there, may as well get some dental work done and have your prescriptions filled . Kind of a "one stop shopping"

'Just another thought or two for you to jostle with,

Jesse

Thanks Jesse for the helpful response. I'll take that advice and check around the area. I'd really like to get the dash fixed/repaired rather than have to do some sort of 'covering ' nonsense. I'm 5hrs from my Mexican dentist and if I can remember it next time down there, I'll ask around. Rx isn't problem for me...VA does well for Nam Vets.
