 2002 Ford 150 Tie rods.CHECK THEM SOON
2002 ford 150 4.6litre 5 speed 4WD.
Hi guys, If you own a 2002 Ford 150 I urge you to CHECK YOUR TIE ROD ENDS SOON!!!
I bought this truck new ,and before the warranty was off ,Ford replaced 2 tie rod ends, under warranty. A few months later in 2004 I recieved a letter ,from Ford describing the procedure to check these tie rod end, which obviously in minds of the Ford engineers,there is a problem.
I took the truck back to Ford and whined, until they inspected and changed the other 2 tie rod ends. This was at 28000 miles. I paid the labour ,they paid the parts.
Yesterday I took the truck for winterization,at my friends shop who is a licensed mechanic. The truck now has only 61,000 miles . He inspected the tie rods again, and all 4 were worn and corroded,to the point where we had to change them again. They were replaced with" MOOG" parts complete with grease ftitings.
The truck is used ,on the highway ,and to haul my 17 ft boat, no off road,and no rough usage ,as i am the only driver.
Lots of other problems with this truck as well.Fuel pump, leaks in the transfer case,ignition problems, and a month ago a starter.
This is the 8th Ford truck I have owned, and I am dissappointed by Ford,s attitude,and the lack of quality they build now.
Sorry to dump on Ford, but if you have had problems others need to know.
