Default 2002 F150 XLT FX4 brake question

I recently purchased a 2002 F150 XLT FX4. It has 4-wheel disc brakes. I have never owned a vehicle with 4-wheel disc brakes before...

I just put all new brake pads and rotors on it.

Sometimes I get a very full pedal and sometimes I don't. The pedal doesn't feel "spongy" to me. Since I can't simply adjust up brake shoes in the brake drum (b/c it is 4-wheel disc), do I just need to bleed the brakes?

Or is something else going on?

I would say you need to bleed the brakes. When you had the rotors off did you notice any leaks,of brake fluid anywhere?

I just did the brakes on my 20002 ford 150,and like you, had to replace the rotors and the pads. Brakes are good now.

While this was being done I checked the tie rod ends. I found both inner and outer tie rod ends were shot. Second set on this truck, and it only has 68,000miles. Ford came out with a bulletin in 2004 about this. There is a special procedure to check these tie rod ends. My buddy has the info, but is away at the moment, but FORD should be able to help. I replaced mine with MOOG ,the type with grease nipples on them.Hope this helps Pacific Pete

Yeah, I just replaced the tie-rods (inner and outer) on both sides.
Used Moog.

I didn't notice any leaks. I'm going to bleed them tonight or tomorrow.

Not sure how air would've got in the lines... previous owner must've neen a goof...
