I have a 2003 F-250 crew cab 4x4 (been good so far). Recently the overhead electronic panel used to work intermitantly, however it then quit working entirerly. Then soon after the check engine light would come and go off intermitantly. Now it stays on. The same sinario for the SRS light. I have checked the manual to identify the fuse but no avail. I have disconnected the batteries but nothing. l am pretty disgusted. can anyone help? I read on another thread that a person had a similar electrical problem and found out it was the gem under the dash. Possible?
give me some ideas.

What is the SRS light?

If you want to check fuses and you can't narrow it down, in about two minutes you can check them all with a test light.

If your check engine light came on and off pull diagnostic codes with a scanner. A number of parts stores will pull them for free.

Howdy folks: Just as a friendly FYI I believe the "SRS" light stands for "Supplemental Restraint System which is a fancy word for "airbag" With that said I have no idea of what the problem may be. Maybe a clockspring or SRS sensor could be the SRS problem but good luck with the rest of it.

Have you heard of the gem module? sounds like it controls alot of he on board electronics. I checked all of the fuses one by one.

There are GEMs in your truck but you can't test them w/o the proper equipment.

It may as simple as a bad ground or....
You will need to get it on a scanner that is CAN compliant to figure this out.

First of all... welcome back!
Yes I have heard of a GEM module. Troubleshooting them can be done with a digital multi meter, IF you have the information that is needed and a LOT of time!

Unfortunately I do not have the info needed to help you. The info I have is a few years older, 1999, and most likely too old.

On the other hand... your CEL is coming on, you might consider taking it to autozone, or lee myles, or some-other place that will pull diagnostic codes for free from your on board computer.

If it is a code that I need to know, which is the best or sufficient unit to use on my truck and how much are they and where can I purchase one. If I want to do a search on the internet what is the specific name and specs functions does it have to perform?
