Default Uphill Disaster!!!

I Have A 79 F250 Supercab 4x4, Problem Is When I Start To Climb Uphills (streets), The Motor Feels Like It Is Starving For Gas And It Hesitates, Bogs Down, And If I Don't Floor It, It Will Die. I Am At My End With This Problem. I Have Changed The Fuel Filter, Replaced The Gas Tank For Sediment Reasons, Cleaned The Carb, Tuned It Up (plugs, Wires, Pcv Valve, Oil, Filters, Etc. If Anyone Has Any Suggestions, Please Help. I Bought This Truck To Use For My Business, Then Eventually Restore It. I Am Running Out Of Options.

fuel pump!!!!!!!!!! also see if the exhaust is restricted, I can not remember if the 79 has a cat.convertor see if its plugged or the muffler. Also check your timing and see if the timing chain has alot off play(take the dist cap off and move the crank by hand and see how much it will move before the rotor moves back and forth, You do not want alot of play.

We have a 78 that had similar issues.
It ended up the intake manifold was filled with crud and restricting airflow.

did you end up pulling off the manifold or just cleaning it out from the top? I just ordered a new edelbrock carb, hoping that does the trick. I'll try cleaning the manifold from the top. Thanks for any help.

Our mechanic cleaned it from the top.
It runs better but not perfect.
He said it was still filled with crud but better than before.
I have to reattach an exhaust manifold so I'll probably clean or replace it in the near future.

Cool. I should have the carb today or tomm. Do you know if the Edelbrock carbs are factory preset? I know squat about carbs.

How easy or hard is it to replace the stock 2bbl motorcraft carb with an Edelbrock 2bbl 600cfm carb? Never worked on carbs before. Are they usually preset or need adjusting? If so, how? Thanks again.

the carb. is preset but you will have to adj. the mixture screws, start with the one side and move inward until the truck miss/stumbales move the screw outward until its smooth, do the other side the same.
