| 1989 Ford F150 oil pressure I was cruising at about 55mph the other day and suddenly my oil pressure gauge went to zero and started bouncing up and down. As I started to pull off the road it came back to normal, but did the same thing several more times as I continued. It then stayed normal for the last couple miles home. I haven't driven it much since but the problem hasn't recurred. I had noticed earlier that the coolant temperature gauge wasn't working, but all the others were ok. I suspect a bad sender for the temperature gauge, but I'm not sure what to think about the oil pressure. The oil level is ok. I haven't had the truck long and haven't found either sensor yet. It's a V8 304 I believe. |

| I had the same problem with my 89 f-250 diesel. For the engine temp sensor you should check the connection to it, if the connection is good then youll have to replace the sensor which ran me about 10 dollars canadian, and the sensor is at the front of the engine. For the oil pressure sensor also check the connection on it, if the connection is good replace the sensor and it at the back of the engine (youll have to take off the air cleaner) you should see it it's up against the firewall and youll have to use a stubby wrench to get it out.I dont no if the diesel is the same as the gas for were the sensors are but it should give you an idea. |

| If you take off the wire to the oil sending guage and hold it onto a ground point the guage should go peg to full high pressure if it doesnt its usally the guage, if it pegs out its usally the sending unit,
One time my ford truck (79 F250 400 cid) did that after 100 or so miles after a oil change, had no oil pressure over an idle, I changed the new motorcraft FL1-A oil filter and it worked somehow the filter was clogged or was a manufacter defect |
