Ford Fairlane Ford Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.

Default 67 fairlane 2 dr. vibration problem

i bored the original 289 to a 347 stroker, what a great motor. New Top loader 4 spd tranny (rebuilt all original). Question, when i let out clutch in first gear i get bad vibration thru car. Only when getting started in 1st gear. All other gears fine. i tightened tranny mount bolts and motor mounts? any suggestion you fairlane owners out there?

Does it vibrate idling? What was the balance on the 347,50oz or 28oz?Gotta make sure you balance it right, otherwise you'll beat the bearings out of it in short time.If all that's fine, maybe a weak pressure plate?

Probably the pressure plate. Did you resurface the fly wheel and install a new clutch assembly? Is it a diaphragm style pressure plate or a finger type? I always have trouble with the diagphragm type chattering.
