Ford Fairlane Ford Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.

Default 58 Ford 2 barrel...won't idle at normal speed

re: 58 Ford Fairlane 292ci.
I must keep the idle speed way up high or it will stall out.
Thanks for any advice.

Rebuild ur carb. Tear it apart and bath it overnight in some B12 carb cleaner. Then blow out ALL the passages u can see with some compressed air.

TBird,
Thanks for the suggestion. But this is a new carburetor. I can get the idle ok for park, but when I put it in gear it stalls...unless I turn up the idle way too high.
