Ford Fairlane Ford Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.

Default 1966 fairlane project...any suggestions or parts?

I am building a 66 fairlane 2 dr sedan (post car), it is currently in bare metal form and had a later model 302 with a 4 speed when I bought it. I am installing a 1971 429 with moderate performace upgrades (balanced, 11:1 flats, isky solid cam, head work, edelbrock intake,headers..etc) with a borg warner t-10 trans and a 9" rear. I am in need of the bell housing, flywheel, and clutch assy to fit between those and some decent quality headers that i won't have to cut the car to install. Also i am planning to go to a rack and pinion setup and would like to know if anyone can tell me what the best interchange fit is in the way of a rack for this model, and a little about how to mount it if you know any tricks or stuff to avoid. I also need brackets and pulleys for the 429, including a/c brackets, i need a rear seat, some decent bumpers and a nice hood other than the flat stock version, front disc conversion stuff, a condenser for the a/c, a dome light, ans a few other small items. Any tips you have on the build will be greatly appreciated as this is my first ford build, and if you have parts, i am ready to buy as we are progressing quickly on this and would like to finish by mid january if possible. thanks in advance for your help!

Fatman Fabrication offers a kit to convert to strut-type suspension that uses late model Mustang OEM pieces, including the steering rack. There are also other front suspension and steering kits available through Auto Krafters and Dearborn Classics that convert the steering to rack and pinion.
