Ford Fairlane Ford Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.

Default New 62 Fairlane 500 owner here!!!

I just got a heck of a deal on a 62 Fairlane 500! The previous owner took the 221 out and put in a 250 straight six in it. He did a pretty shotty job, he welded some plates for the motor mounts to attach. My question now is if I put a 289/302 in it can I use the ORIGINAL motor mount attaching location or do I have to redrill holes to fit?? Sorry a very newby to this car, but I love it!!!!

Default mounts

motor mounts should work just fine . i have a 62 500 also, with a 221 in it and my 351W will set right on the mounts of the 221. so did the plates get welded to the chassis? you may need to remove that and hopefully the origal mount hole will still be usable.

Yes the plates did get welded to the chassis, but they are not over the top of the original holes they are welded off the chassis. kinda weird.
