Ford Fairlane Ford Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.

Default 460 in a 66 Fairlane

Anybody on here ever done this swap? What all is involved? Do the strut towers have to be modified? Thanks for your time to reply.

My friend put a 460 in a 66 Fairlane. He did take out his strut towers. Contact
Crites. They make engine compartment kits for modifying the strut towers to get the engine to fit. You may not have to in a 66 Fairlane. I know they ran 427FE's in them in the day.

Your 460 is still a little wider and you can modify your strut towers yourself by cutting off the part that sticks out a half inch or so and re-plate it yourself. I did that when I still had shock towers to make more room for my headers on my 428. !/2 inch makes a world of difference.
