new 68 fairlane owner

the car was bought by it's second owner in 72 my father bought it from him about 2-3 years ago. he bought it to fix it up and i pestered him about it for 2 years while it sat on our car lot.. and he finally let me have it.. oh and he paid $300 for it.. it wasnt in too bad shape. 87k original miles original engine and tranny 3 original ford headlights everything else on it is original.. the interior and paint was ruined for the most part.. i am recovering the seats.. and i'll have to replace the floor pans i have replaced the dash the windsheild got it running with new tires and i sanded it down a bit.. but i had to relocate so i painted it flat black for the mean time.. the rust isnt too bad but i will need a new hood because the hinges have rusted themselves off the hood.. and i need both bumpers.. i had to replace the front passenger fender because the guys wife hit a tree in it.. but it wasnt too bad.. i replaced the heater core the valve cover gasket, the rotor button the coil the cyllinoid.. and put flowmaster exhaust on it.. and a few other things.. i have a ton of pictures if anyone wants to see the rebuild process..
it is the 2door hardtop with a 200 under the hood.. i just got through with a 500 mile trip in it

My father just give me his mother's (Elva) 68 Fairlane 500 a couple of weeks ago. It's a 2 door with the 200 ci engine. Today I removed most of the interior, checked out the engine, seems to be in good shape for not running in 17 years. The car has under 26k, and does have some "minor" rust in all the usual places. Waiting to get a new ignition to see if it fires up. Plan on just getting it road worthy then work on it as the time and $ is available. Best of luck on your project.
