Ford Fairlane Ford Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? What RPM is the idle set at?

I agree with checking for vacuum leaks. Has your gas mileage changed drastically? You may want to do a compression test. My '64 Fairlane did that same thing. Turned out I had a couple of burnt valves. One other thing to check is the power valve on the carb. Are you blowing any black or white smoke?
