What condition is the fuel line and tank?My f100 used to have problems clogging the line until I replaced the tank and line.If your line is leaking air,you may have problems too.But yes,checking the eccentric would be a good idea.
I broke 2 bolts in the water pump changing it, so we took the front timing cover off and tapped the holes.
The hardware store did not have the same length bolts, so we put in a little longer ones. My dad did not put enough washers to make it the same length as the old one, and it was sticking thru and hitting the fuel pump arm.
The pump would go down one crank and get stuck on the bolt.
I have a 1963 Fairlane with a 260 that is exhibiting the same problem. I have replaced the pump and checked the eccentric on the timing gear cover.... All OK. Let me know if you've solved your mystery.
