Ford FairlaneFord Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.
Hello. I need to replace the chrome piece at the bottom of the roof on my 64 Sports Coupe. Does anyone have a repair idea to get to the rear two bolts off that panel, w/o removing the headliner. Is there a way to tear back the headliner to do this?
To do it without ripping the headliner you need to remove the rear seat and the rear package tray since the ends of the headliner are under it. You will have to take off the rear armrests to get the seat back out. You then can gently pull the edge of the headliner back to reveal the trim nuts. You might want to have a hairdryer handy to loosen up the glue at the side window edges. If it is really dry and crusty it may be quite a challenge not to damage it.
