Ford Fairlane Ford Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.

Default Changing 64 289 to an alternator, bracket I ordered doesnt fit?!

I ordered an alternator bracket for a 289.
It looks like these brackets are for 65-UP

Maybe thats why it doesnt fit my 64? I drilled the mounting holes a little bigger for the bolts to fit thru. Then the bolts arent threaded all the way so I had to use a bunch of washers. Then I went to put the second bolt in and the whole is off a little so it wont fit.
Was the 64 289 different or something? Where do I get the proper alternator bracket?

Thanks!!!

there is an adapter that screws into the head for the smaller threaded hole and then you use the long bolt thru the Alt and screw it into the adapter. Since you have drilled the hole and tapped it the long bolt should screw right to the head with the approiate lenght spacer that will set the alt at the correct distance from the head. Good luck. LC
