Ford FairlaneFord Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.
I purchased a 66 GT convertable that acording to the numbers on it, it is a 390, 3 speed (console shift). Anyone think this is a kinda wierd combination besides me? I am thnking about making it a true 4 speed. Thoughts and ideas anyone?
The car is a true "GTA". By putting a 4 speed and making it a "GT", you could hurt the value. Its all preference though. The GTA's did well at the track because they were consistant. Stage, green, and mash the pedal to the floor and let the car do the work.
I'm confused. I've never heard of a GT with a 3 speed. I understood the GT's all came with 4 speed toploaders with a 335hp 390. Sounds like a rare car. Are you sure there's an S in the vin number?
I am positive. Thats why I am thinking it's a fairly rare car. It seems like a strange ordered one, 390, 3 speed console, convertable, no p/s, no p/b. Kinda plain jane. I Wonder how many they made like this. Darnit, I really want to make it a 4 speed.
