Ford Fairlane Ford Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.

Default 57 Fairlane Retractable questions

Hello Everyone. I'm a 'newbie' here and have some questions about a 57 Fairlane Skyliner that was left to me when my father passed away last year. I'm in the process of trying to piece it back together and have some questions. It never made it past having the rockers replaced and the body media-blasted and primed in 1989. I've hung the doors and fenders just to see how things line up before I start on any more bodywork and such. The doors and fenders don't line up with the rockers no matter how I adjust them. I don't know a lot about this stuff, but I really believe the rockers were installed wrong, made wrong, or something. I think they are 'Pinched-In' at the front of the rocker. I've argued with my bodyman until I'm blue in the face. He says they're right, I say they are wrong (he didn't install them). He wants to modify the doors and fenders to fit the rockers. Does anyone here know where I can get a measurement of the outermost edge from rocker-to-rocker so I can check mine? I would gladly pay for this information as I'm almost to a point of putting it back in storage. I don't care if I'm proven right or wrong, as long as I have proof either way.
Thanks,
Donnie

Hello,

I am having a similar problem. I've hung the doors and once I put the weatherstripping then the doors won't close and I (and other bodymen) have not been able to adjust them to close. I am also looking for measurements to make the body didn't get tweaked during the separation from the frame. If I find any measurments I will send to you.

My car is 58 fairlane convertible.
