Ford Fairlane Ford Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.

Default BBF starter info needed

I have a 64 Fairlane with a 460 BBF motor and need a new starter. The one I have now is a stock 400 starter with no solenoid on it. I am looking to upgrade to a high-torque mini starter but am having trouble finding one without a top mounted solenoid. Any ideas?

Sorry no such thing as a high torque mini starter without a solenoid on top. You can use a rebuilt starter that fits any of the newer F series or Econolines with the 460. These were permanent magnet, gear reduction "mini" starters and should fit and work on your engine.
I just installed one of these on a '66 Fairlane with a 460 swap that had hard cranking problems when hot (common on 460's) and it works just fine.

Mr. Blaquejak, thanks for the reply, do you have a part number or a specfic year/model I can look up at a parts store? What brand did you purchase? My headers look like a pot of spegetti noodles and are cooking the stock starter.

Try Summit or RobbMc. It has a rotatable 360 degree solenoid.
