Ford Fairlane Ford Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.

New here and just looking for some advice from some old timers. I just bought my first fairlane this year, a 65' 500 sedan 2 door. car is in good shape and only has frame rust on the passenger side frame rail upfront in about a 5 inch section. As well as one spot right behind the passenger side door. Sending it to the body shop for repair soon. Came with and has the original 289. Wish it was the elusive K car from 65 but ofcourse not. It already has an Edlerbrock performer carb and manifold on it, going to pull the motor and do a rebuild on the it while the body and frame are in for repair. How about some moderate to low buck ideas for max street power. I have good mechanical skills and have done many repairs in the past but never a total rebuild on my own, so this will be my first. I have a budget to work with of about $1500 (motor) and just looking to get the most bang for my buck on the motor. Current conditon of motor is ok. Has some power, but spitting oil like a sive thrtough the exhaust. What are yalls thoughts?
