Ford FairlaneFord Fairlane was produced from 1955 through 1969. The original body design was the full sized Ford body which started out as a family vehicle and slowly evolved into many different available models and body styles. The exterior paint and trim options, seemed endless with elaborate cloth woven seat covers and a rainbow of paint combinations.
Just bought and am awaiting delivery of my first Fairlane. It is a midnight blue 66 hardtop with standard interior and 289 w C4. Non original block but appears very clean and well cared for. As a young teenager...this is the first car I remember my sister and brother in law having and he was a gear head so it stuck in my mind. I finally found one in decent shape so I snatched it up. These cars appear to be getting harder to find these days. I have a few mustangs as well so this is not my first "special interest" car. It is however my first Fairlane and I am stoked about it. I plan on driving it as much as the weather will allow. It will no doubt be a keeper like my 65 Fastback stang. Since it dosen't have the original block already...it is not a concourse car so I might do some upgrades. I think if I do anything, the first thing will be to upgrade to power disc brakes. What do you guys think? Is that worth the money? I have found several kits on e bay but have no experience with any of the vendors..Is any one kit better than any others? Thanks in advance for your time to reply..I'll but lurking in the back ground...Thanks Don
power disc brakes are not really neccessary with the 289. drums will stop you just fine. on the other hand, the discs would look pretty sweet if you get some wheels that'll show them. wanna do it on a buget? granada spindles, discs, calipers, and tie rod ends are direct bolt on.
I too am a first time user. Just purchased a 1967 Fairlane GTA Hdtp here in El Paso, Texas. Has a 289, Auto, Pwr Steering and Factory air cond. Nice body and it runs pretty decently. Needs interior work. Everything works. I need to check on the brakes, seems like the Granada might be a nice swap? (What year Granada)?
Also has a side moulding running mostly the length of the body. Was this factory? I've looked at several on different sites and didn't see any like this moulding.
