Ford FairmontThe Ford Fairmont was an all-new, rear wheel drive compact car introduced in 1978 and sold through 1983. Coupe, sedan, and wagon bodies appeared at introduction, joined slightly later by a specialty coupe with a different roofline known as the Futura. The Fairmont Futura featured an unusual two-piece vinyl roof with an upswept central roof band.
i've found a complete 8.8 for $100 that has disc brakes, i would like to use this as is in my car, besides changing the master cyl. and booster, what other mods will be required?

What did the 8.8 come out of ?
What Booster do you have ? I used my original "9 booster but put a Mustang SVO master cyl. on. I also used the proportioning valve from the same car I got my 8.8 with disc brakes.
They '95 and new Stang 8.8's are wider by about "3/4. The tire and wheels I used are "15x"8 '05 Stang GT and fit just perfect.
it's from a 96' and i was planning on getting the booster and all at a parts store . i will get new springs and a sway bar, my mission is more about improving how it handles instead of the performance part of it. the car likes to spin out when making turns on wet roads luckily never hitting anything. that must be a common problem because i've had other f/z's do the same thing. i didnt not peg it either when making turns, just normal driving.
i agree, thats a very nice clean car, the 8.8 i have is 5 lug also so i turned in my front rotors to get them redrilled to 5 lug, are those 17x8's?, was considering getting a set of bullits from summit racing for mine, if they are 17's how big of a tire can you get away with without having to roll rear fender lips?, i've also got a new disc/disc prop. valve installed allready, thanks

Okay I've got a 78 fairmont and want to run 7" wide 2005 halibrand lookin mustang rims 16" I understang the 94 95 mustang rears are a bit wider and will work for my combo but are there other years of mustang rears that will bolt in and similar width ? same for the front end .... I know the 94 95 is good on the front but I could use a little wider track with just a 7" rim what other years front spindles struts and will I need different control arms etc anything better than the fairmont original brakes and I'm happy.
Thank guys - nice lookin ride mine is white too !
First, thanks for the compliments, the mach's are 17X8 and the tires are 245/45/17 all around (if memory serves), One of the first set of rims I had on it were 18X9 Chrome Saleens and with the combo of the wider rear end and 275's out back was TOO wide, if I would have trimmed the inner fender I "might" could have run them but they were BIG Flintstone looking things . Personally I think 265/275's would be about the biggest I'd run on there comfortably. My zephyr wagon is getting some 99 GT rims with 275's on it now, and I'll be swapping the 94/95 spindles from my white Fairmont (got regular 94/95 calipers) for 99+PBR's and they'll go on the wagon, with some 13" Cobra brakes going on the Fairmont!!
found a 90' 8.8" on craigslist 100 miles away, i know it will bolt in but does anyone know if its the same width as the 7.5"?, my 7.5" measures 53.5" plate to plate, have been trying to get a measurement from the guy with it before driving up there, some are wider and require more back spacing on the wheels, trying to stay as close as i can to the stock width because wheel wells are a tight fit anyway.
