Well i gues the mounting inserts are a thing of the past. I could not get them.
so Ill have to improvise once again.
the task is to mount the ram cyl anchor bracket to the bottom side of the frame just under the steering gearbox. here is what i did to make it work.

this is the mount and the bolts and the nuts i am going to weld into place after i open up the hex hole in the frame just a bit. Ill juse a die grinder to open up the hole.

hex hole is now a round hole.

a nice tight fit is good.

tack it in place with a mig welder.

and bam! a threaded insert.! after a little clean up.

now do the second hole like the first one.

and mount the bracket.

.

then it was on to cleaning up the engine bay, some slovent, a brush, rag and paint.

before...

after..

.

still working on the tie rod end, maybe next weekend ill get it all back together for the final assembly.

I picked up the rotors, calipers, pads, flex hoses, inner and outer bearings, and seals last night, so should be able to finish up most of the conversion on sat.
I also got a pannel to replace the inner fender skirt where the battery sits. and i got a new battery tray.
the master cylinder should be here today (67 Maverick).
stand by for pics on Sun! (insert evil Austin Powers laugh here)

had to cure some cancer today that was in the battery section of the front rt fender well.
first i cut out a small section and then found a replacement inner fender well part that came out of a mustang catalog, so i opened up the hole alot more than i was orriginally going to.

this is the first hole i cut using an air saw, these are great for cutting thin metal or wood, a great tool to have.

you can see where i was orriginally going to replace sheet metal before i got the mustang pannel.

here is the pannel before i cut the opening bigger, i traced it with a silver marker, orriginally, it was a full inner fender pannel, but i cut it down to just what i needed, if you dont have a welder, you could use it as is.

then cut out the opening to match the pannel.

then weld it in. I used a small 110V mig welder for this job since the metal is so thin. it worked pretty good. sorry for the pic quality on this shot...my bad!

then grind it and sand it smooth.

and it ready to re-paint....tomorrow.

then i got back to work on the suspension. I put in the sway bar off the granada today. the brackets are already on the falcon all set up for it. just a straight bolt in after buying new bushing.

then i packed the inner and outer wheel bearing, installed the inner seal and put on the disks, looks and feels like real progress now.

and a straight on shot.

side note on the granada disks. the inner hub that sticks out that the wheel will fit over is 2-3/4" in dia. I may need to have some of this turned down on the lathe, depending on which wheels i buy.

tomorrow i hope to get the calipers, pads and start bending new brake lines.
I picked up a 67 maverick master cyl and it looks like a straight bolt in.
i had to remove the brake and clutch peddle assemby, cus i will have a C-4 auto, so i have to get a brake assembly for the automatics before i can fit the M/C in. Ill order it Mon.

first things first, I painted the inner fender well, it looks better than the pic. the pics picks up what looks like specks and holes, must be the light reflection.

now on to the springs. I used 1" lowered mustang springs for a 65-66 stang.
this kind of compresser worked pretty good and you can see how much you need to compress to get them in.

i found that once you get them in place, use a floor jack to lift the lower A arm until it compress the spring just a little, then back off the spring compressor, make sure the top is positioned corectly, you only want to do this once.

.

had a little trouble figuring out the caliper and pad set-up from the granada, they dont give you very good pictures in the instructions, the little spring clip cost me almost an hour to figure out. but it goes like this.

the rest is pretty simple.

now im off to the tire store to get new wheels and tires. next week, ill start the brake line bending and install the proportioning valve....i hope
